Tetra Pak® Continuous Ice Cream Freezer A2 Series - exceptional product uniformity with optimal texture and lowest production cost.
Quick facts
Unit for continuous freezing, mixing, whipping and air incorporation - connected to a central refrigeration plant.
Capacity
Applications
Ice cream, coffee and other food products
A controlled flow of ice cream mix or other ingredients is pumped into the freezing cylinder along with the desired amount of air. As the mixture passes through the cylinder, it is frozen by the refrigerant surrounding the cylinder, and air is incorporated by a dasher and beater. Stainless steel blades mounted on the dasher scrape the frozen mixture off the inside wall of the cylinder, and a second gear pump moves the ice cream forward for filling or extrusion.

Space efficient design
The selection of a highly compact motor and pulley system enable a narrow design, so it is possible to place several freezers side by side if needed. The internal piping is optimized to enhance space efficiency and serviceability – all of which results in an unusually high output for a footprint of only 1.72 m2 (CF 2000).
Rotary pump
The most precise pumps on the market are used in this freezer, ensuring an accurate flow of product and guaranteeing production stability with repeatable results and low waste. The pumps are cleaned automatically during the freezer’s own CIP cycle.
IE3 and IE4 motors
Built with the most energy efficient motors, this unit keeps power consumption down to a minimum, thereby reducing running costs.
Patented cylinder design
This unit features a unique cylinder that enables a 10% increase in the heat transfer rate compared to older models of freezers. The outer diameter of the pipe remains identical, but the surface of the coolant channel is ribbed to maximize heat transfer.
Hygienic shaft seal
This shaft seal is made of hard metal steel in order to withstand production of mixtures with coarse particles without wearing out the components prematurely. It has a recommended replacement time is 3000 hours. To further enhance hygiene, the spring is placed outside the product zone, thereby preventing product from becoming trapped during production.
Operator control panel
A user-friendly touch screen panel shows operators what is happening in the individual unit and can be connected to the production control system, Tetra PlantMaster™ for an overall line view. This enables full production monitoring capabilities and access to a historic log for tracing production.
Patented start-up procedure
In traditional freezers, the first 2 to 3 batches of product are usually wasted due to inaccuracies in overrun. But with this model, the overrun is accurate from the start, leading to an upper limit of half a cylinder of product waste at start-up. This feature saves a significant amount of money on expensive ingredients.
Mass flow meter A2 series
A mass flow meter ensures that precisely the desired amount of air enters the freezing cylinder and is incorporated into the mixture. More or less air can be incorporated to vary product texture as needed, with minimal production fluctuations and hence minimal waste. The meter can handle up to 140% overrun, enabling products with a high air content.
