Introduction & Scope

The Tetra Pak Group ("Tetra Pak") appreciate your interest in our products and your visit to www.tetrapak.com or to any of our other websites, offices, or corporate events. We are committed to protecting your privacy and informing you herewith about our data processing activities.

This privacy policy applies to the website(s), mobile applications, social media profiles/pages operated by Tetra Pak (together the “Web Services”), products delivered, services performed, or offerings made by Tetra Pak (together the “Products and Services”). The privacy policy provides you with information about our processing of personal data relating to you:

  • as a representative/contact person of our business customers, suppliers, contractors and business prospects, including where you are using our customer portals
  • as a user of our Web Services, or subscriber to our newsletter or other information from us
  • as a participant to a corporate event organized by us (campaigns, conferences, customer events, etc.), or a visitor of our offices or factories (“Premises”)

This privacy policy contains the general rules on processing personal data by Tetra Pak. Additional or other rules may apply to certain data subjects, like employees, consumers or other individuals with respect to our Products and Services and they are governed by relevant Data Privacy Notices, as amended by Tetra Pak from time to time.

What personal data is processed about you?

We collect the following categories of personal data that you or your employer (business customers, suppliers, contractors or other business prospects) have provided to us, including but not limited to:

  • Personal contact information (such as name, phone number, email address, country)
  • Business contact information (such as company, position/level, and your dealings with us on behalf of yourself or of the relevant business customers, suppliers, contractors or other business prospects) or any personal data that is required for the purpose of conclusion and execution of agreements with your employer (business customers, suppliers, contractors or other business prospects)
  • Other personal information contained in content you submit to us (such as your areas of interest related to Tetra Pak, your message)
  • We use cookies and other similar technologies to automatically collect data

How we collect personal data?

We collect personal data about you when you provide information to us, including but not limited to:

  • you fill in a contact form on one of our Web Services
  • you request information about a product or service
  • you submit an invention and fill in the inventor’s contact form
  • you sign up to receive news, updates or direct marketing communications
  • you participate or attend an event or campaign
  • you apply for a job with Tetra Pak 
  • you communicate with us for example through social media networks or by sending us an email
  • you visit or use our Web Services where we automatically collect certain information related to you
  • you visit our Premises in person

Why and how we process your personal data? 

We process your personal data in order to respond to your questions (via mail, e-mail or phone, as applicable), to provide you with specific information which you requested or applied for via the contacts page, to contact you in relation to the submission of your request, to improve our services and products and/or for business development purposes. We also collect and process your personal data in order to update you on your areas of interests (e.g. sending newsletters), for our legitimate business interests, for compliance with our legal obligations and/or as otherwise permitted by law.

Who we share your personal data with?

We only share your personal data with other companies of the Tetra Pak Group, or authorized third party analytics service provider, for the sole purpose of responding to your questions or applications, fulfilling your requests or providing you with requested information. We restrict access to personal data to Tetra Pak authorized employees, contractors and agents who need to access the personal data in order to process it for us, and who are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations and who may be disciplined or terminated if they fail to meet these obligations.

International data transfer 

Tetra Pak is a global group of companies headquartered in Switzerland. When we need to export your personal data to a country different to your country of residence, we take organizational, security, contractual and legal measures to transfer your personal data in compliance with applicable laws and legislation.  These measures include our Controller Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs), governing the transfer of personal data across the Tetra Pak Group in the different jurisdictions where they are applicable. This is an authority-approved transfer mechanism, binding all companies of the Tetra Pak Group.

Likewise, when we use third party service providers and their services involve transfers of personal data outside of the country of your residence, we ensure that the third-party service provider has appropriate data transfer mechanisms in place such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses to enable the transfer. Security of your personal data 

To safeguard your personal data against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use, we have in place appropriate organizational, security, contractual and legal measures.

How long we keep the collected data

Personal data will be stored only as long as is necessary to carry out the purposes described in this privacy policy or as otherwise required by applicable laws.

As regards your contact details, we keep your personal data as long as we are in contact with you. If you have not contacted us for four years, we will delete your personal data after expiration of that time.

As regards the content of your message or request to Tetra Pak, we keep it for two years. After two years, we anonymize the content and we keep it in an anonymized way for statistics purposes. 

Your rights

You, as an individual whose personal data are processed by Tetra Pak, have certain data protection rights, which you may exercise by making a request to Tetra Pak. Your data subjects’ rights include the right to request: 

  • Access to your personal data;
  • Rectification of your personal data;
  • Erasure of your personal data (this right is also referred to as the 'right to be forgotten');
  • Restriction of processing your personal data;
  • Objection of processing your personal data (in certain circumstances and subject to applicable law);
  • Portability of your personal data (in certain circumstances and subject to applicable law);
  • Not to be subject to automated decision making; and
  • Not to be sent direct marketing.

Your data subject’s requests (DSR) or any question in this context can be submitted  on the Tetra Pak Data Subject Request Platform.

We will respond to your request to change, correct, or delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe and notify you of the action we have taken.

You have a right to lodge any complaints with the national data protection authority in your country we ask that you raise your objects with us in the first instance.

Information About Children

Tetra Pak does not knowingly or intentionally collect information about children under 13.  If you believe that we have collected information about a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@tetrapak.com, so that we will delete the information.

These third party websites are outside our control and are not covered by this Privacy Policy. If you access other websites using the links provided, the operators of these websites may collect your personal data. Tetra Pak is not liable for any personal data that you submit to third party website linked to our Websites. Your browsing and interaction on any third party website or service, including those that have a link or advertisement on our Websites / Apps, are subject to that third party’s own rules and policies.

External links to Tetra Pak websites

Linking from an external party to a website owned and controlled by us is only allowed if, and on the condition that the external website does not contain material which could be considered unlawful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, scandalous or profane or that could constitute or encourage a conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any law. We do not assume any responsibility whatsoever for the content or functionality of external web sites which are not operated or controlled by the Tetra Pak Group.
