Brewer's Spent Grain (BSG) is a byproduct of brewing. It is rich in fibre and protein, but low in sugar. Due to its rapid spoilage, every year about 40 million tons of Brewers' spent grain are mainly used as animal feed or as landfill. Up until now. Because now, we are making this side stream available for usage in the food industry. By upcycling Brewers' spent grain into a liquid ingredient, the next generation of plant-based drinks is taking shape.
This line lets you produce beverages from spent grain in a cost-efficient and repeatable way. The extraction process includes grinding, enzyme treatment and deactivation for consistent product quality and flavour. Beverage properties are optimised through formulation with high shear mixing, aseptic processing and homogenisation. UHT treatment ensures food safety.
