The use of the mix’s own turbulence avoids vortex or any breaking of the surface by a liquid jet or mechanical agitating device. It also ensures mixing that is exceptionally fast. This is because the liquid volume inside the tank is its own agitator, using turbulence to mix itself. Tetra Pak Radial Jet Mixer mixes a standard beverage in 2-10 minutes after last ingredient is added.
A symmetrical mixing field, the absence of vortex, and between 6-100% more filling level flexibility together ensure homogenous distribution.
Capacity:
Available with single (S) or twin (T) mixing nozzles depending on the tank dimensions (tank is not included).
Ideal for batch mixes of up to 200 cP.
Applications:
For beverage products such as carbonated soft drinks, juices, nectars, still drinks, functional drinks but also for dairy and plant-based drinks.
Single or twin nozzle
Our mixer is available with a single (S) or twin (T) mixing nozzle depending on the tank dimensions. In both cases, the mixing nozzle creates steady turbulence through high-speed jets of liquid generated by a recirculation pump. It’s reassuring to know that the nozzle does not create high shear. The shear rate of an agitator is 100 times more at the blade tip than near one of our nozzles. This helps to preserve product quality.
Fast mixing
In a trial in a 20 cubic metre tank, we compared the batch time for a conventional agitator with Tetra Pak® Radial Jet Mixer T in the production of a cola drink. While the mixing time (after the last ingredient was added) for an agitator was 20 minutes, our mixer took only 6 minutes. Time for preparation could also be cut. The result: a time-saving of 24 minutes per batch. This is typical for beverage production.
Cascade cleaning
Watch the video from a tank at a plant in Paraguay! This innovation allows you to cut the CIP cycle for sticky drinks from 90 minutes or more to the time of a standard cycle for non-sticky soft drinks. The media enter through the spray ball and then are expelled as a powerful jet using the Tetra Pak® Radial Jet Mixer T for a faster and more efficient tank cleaning of juices, nectars and energy drinks, which are notoriously difficult to clean.
Homogenous mixing every time
Tetra Pak® Radial Jet Mixer T is ideal for mixing pulps, fibres and other floating ingredients. The turbulence forces them to be distributed in the batch. With taller tanks, powder and undispersed sediments tend to sink to the bottom. This is not a problem with our radial jet mixer. So you can mix powders in huge tanks without the need for a separate small-scale powder pre-mixer. Note that fibres, pulps and other floating ingredients are always added from the bottom.
Three stages in one mixer
The mixing nozzle of the T model has a horizontal and upper outlet opening. This allows mixing on a low and high stage. The stages are changed by switching the valve position of the mixing nozzle via air pressure. The CIP stage is achieved by increasing the speed of the pump and using the upper outlet opening of the mixing nozzle.
Simple to install and maintain
Just one flange needs to be welded into the tank bottom. No need to add several fittings inside the tank as with an agitator. Only one pump and a set of butterfly valves are needed and that means less components to install and less commissioning. What’s more, the pump is at ground level outside the tank for easy access. In comparison to an agitator, we estimate that you save more than 17,300 euros just in the first two years through simpler installation (1), operation (2) and less maintenance (3).
Flexible batch size
Fill low or high and always get the perfect mix. In fact, you can go as low as a 6% filling level for small batch sizes for research purposes or seasonal products. In comparison, an agitator needs a certain minimal filling level every time of about 30%. By choosing our radial jet mixer, high or low production runs can be mixed in the same size tank without problems. The mixer also works whether feeding ingredients from the top or bottom into your tank.
