At Tetra Pak, we’re dedicated to ensuring that food remains safe and sustainable for everyone. This year, we’re excited to expand our Recycle Carton Competition to make a greater impact. By partnering with a network of schools we’re advancing our mission to protect food, people and our planet.
The Recycle Carton Competition 2024, proudly presented by Tetra Pak and supported by our esteemed partners First Choice, Orange Grove, and Rhodes Food Group, marks an exciting expansion this year. We’re thrilled to extend the competition to include schools across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, and Eastern Cape. Running from September 1 to November 29, 2024, this initiative is designed to amplify our impact on sustainability by engaging more schools, reaching more students, and increasing the volume of recycled Tetra Pak cartons. Our enhanced collaboration with leading industry partners reflects our commitment to fostering a sustainable future and making a substantial difference in recycling efforts across the country.
Recycling is crucial for advancing towards a sustainable future by reducing waste, conserving resources, and minimizing environmental impact. It supports the transition to a circular economy, where materials are continuously reused and repurposed. By recycling, you contribute to our collective goal of increasing recycling rates to 40% by 2030, helping create a healthier planet for future generations.
Our Tetra Pak® carton packages have evolved over 70 years to prioritize sustainability and efficiency. Each package features a six-layer structure designed for recycling. The primary material is responsibly sourced paperboard, making up over 70% of the package by weight. Polymers protect against moisture and bond the layers, while a thin aluminum foil layer preserves food without refrigeration. We continuously innovate with plant-based and recycled polymers to enhance circularity. Our goal is to create the world's most sustainable food package: fully recyclable, carbon-neutral, and made from renewable or recycled materials. Discover more about our sustainable packaging
