Our commitment to protecting people extends to the communities where we operate. It includes helping to support child nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, youth employability and consumer engagement in sustainability.
We offer our partners practical support in implementing and evaluating school feeding programmes, while also advising on food safety, quality and the importance of fortified and nutritious beverages for children. We advise on carton reuse and recycling within schools.
Our Future Talent Programme creates meaningful opportunities for the next generation to build employability skills. In 2019 another 148 graduates have joined us around the world bringing the total number up to 487. Our Future Talent Programme combines on-the-job training with development in a range of competencies and all participants are offered a job with us upon completion.
We help end consumers make discerning purchasing choices and recycle their cartons. By working closely with our customers and consumer organisations, we have the potential to create change at a vast scale, including by creating socio-economic value through the use of our recycled cartons to make new products.
Tetra Pak contributes to specific appeals for support. We have recently donated €10 million towards COVID-19 relief efforts in the countries where we operate. We also made a significant donation to support relief efforts following the bushfires that affected many parts of Australia in late 2019, as well as working with customers to distribute milk and water to those in need.
