Having engaged and productive employees is key for us to achieve our business ambitions. In 2019, we conducted our biannual Employee Engagement survey, which generated a number of pleasing results, including:
A high participation rate of 87%, our highest ever.
Our overall engagement score remains stable at a high level.
Employees continue to believe in our values.
Improvements in career development and performance management.
However, we are concerned with issues in certain areas, such as speed of change, process and customer focus, especially as these are key to our Strategy 2030. We addressed and communicated action items quickly and will run two shorter electronic "Pulse" surveys in 2020 to check the effectiveness of these actions and to correct our course if needed.

Recognising positive behaviours and performance is important to us and we acknowledge our colleagues in a number of ways. For example, any employee can nominate a colleague for an Excellence Award in four categories: customer, innovation, operation or leadership. We also recognise teamwork with our awards for market and factory of the year.
