Thanks to our decades of experience in aseptic technology, we can help you preserve the taste, appearance, textures and product quality of your liquid food or beverage for an extended period of over six months. In combination with aseptic processing, our packaging solutions enable your business to ensure a high standard of food safety while simultaneously reducing waste. As no refrigeration or preservatives are needed, aseptic packaging also allows for highly efficient, cost-effective transport chains as well as the possibility to reach consumers in more remote locations.
We offer seven different aseptic packaging systems, making it easy to select an attractive, practical option that suits your product and appeals to your consumers.
In order to ensure safe, shelf-stable food for over six months, both the packaging and the product must undergo sterilization prior to filling. There are two methods for carrying this out.
One option for aseptic filling involves passing flat, unformed packaging material through a hydrogen peroxide bath. Here, a concentration of 30% hydrogen peroxide is heated at 70°C for six seconds. Pressure rollers or hot air then eliminate the hydrogen peroxide from the packaging material.
Tetra Pak’s eBeam technology is another method for sterilizing packaging material. In this case, two eBeam lamps sterilize the inner and outer parts of the packaging material through the production process. Electron emissions guarantee an equivalent sterilization performance to that of hydrogen peroxide systems.
To prevent contamination, filling and sealing machinery must also be sterile before and during the packaging process. This can be achieved using hot air and steam, or by combining heat treatment with chemical sterilization.
